Goa’s tourism sector has maintained steady momentum in 2026, with the state recording 61.38 lakh tourist arrivals between January and July, according to the latest data from the Department of Tourism.

The latest figures come as the Goa government continues to diversify the state’s tourism offerings and promote experiences beyond its beaches.

Greater emphasis is being placed on tourism, including wellness, heritage, adventure, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), spiritual tourism, gastronomy and local experiences, helping Goa attract visitors across different seasons.

This approach is particularly important for strengthening tourism activity during the monsoon months, when the state is traditionally viewed as an off-season destination.

The impact of this broader tourism strategy is visible in July’s performance. 

Goa recorded around 6.94 lakh tourist arrivals in July 2026, marking a 2.27% increase compared with July 2025.

The rise in tourist footfall during the monsoon highlights growing interest in a different side of Goa, from its lush landscapes and waterfalls to heritage sites, local culture, wellness experiences and monsoon getaways.

By actively promoting these experiences, the government is working to ensure that tourism remains vibrant even outside the conventional peak beach season.

Of the 61.38 lakh visitors recorded between January and July, 59.02 lakh were domestic tourists, while 2.36 lakh were international visitors.

The strong domestic numbers demonstrate Goa’s continued popularity among travellers from across India, while international arrivals reinforce the state’s appeal as a globally recognised tourism destination.
