Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Friday flagged off new semi-luxury buses of the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) at the KTC Bus Stand in Panaji, as part of efforts to modernise the corporation’s fleet and improve public transport connectivity across Goa.
The Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL), Goa’s state transport undertaking, operates both intra-state and interstate services and has been working towards expanding and modernising its fleet.
The state’s Economic Survey 2025-26 recorded 651 KTCL buses as of December 31, 2025, including 171 electric buses, while highlighting the corporation’s role in connecting rural, remote and underserved areas.
The government plans to bring more buses onto Goa’s roads to address the shortage and meet growing demand.

More Comfortable Travel and Stronger Connectivity
The addition of new semi-luxury buses is expected to make public transport in Goa more comfortable, reliable and modern.
With the government working to address the shortage of buses on the state’s roads, an expanded KTCL fleet can improve the availability of services and make daily travel easier for people who depend on public transport.
Better bus availability can particularly benefit students, employees, senior citizens and other regular commuters travelling across towns and villages.

The expansion will also strengthen interstate connectivity.
Six luxury sleeper coaches equipped with modern amenities are expected to be inducted by Dussehra 2026 to improve interstate travel, while another 24 semi-luxury buses will be added to strengthen connections with neighbouring states.
This will provide passengers with more comfortable options for longer journeys and interstate travel.
The government is also taking steps to strengthen the wider public transport system by working with private bus operators through a partnership model.
Under the Mhaji Bus Scheme, the monthly salary of drivers has been increased to ₹20,000, supporting efforts to improve the availability of bus services.
KTCL has also expanded its services through the introduction of electric buses, adding a modern and more sustainable component to Goa’s public transport network.
The addition of new buses and the planned expansion of the fleet can help Goa move towards a more accessible, comfortable and dependable public transport system, giving residents better mobility while strengthening connectivity within the state and with neighbouring regions.
